Many large donors (both individuals and foundations) do not have the time or ability to research all the potential recipients of their donations to asses where their funding can be most effective.
FSI conducts its own research and interviews, works with researchers at Farmed Animal Funders, and works with a network of individuals, all of whom provide information that leads to FSI determining where funding is most needed and in what amount.
Can I donate to FSI and ask that my money be directed to whatever organizations FSI finds worthy? Yes.
Can I donate to FSI and restrict my funds for use for a particular type of mission-aligned activity, program or region? Yes.
Can I donate to FSI and direct that my money be specifically donated to another organization or entity of my choosing? No. If a donor has a specific NGO or program they intend to fund, they should fund that NGO or program directly. Any funding donated to FSI that is then used to fund another entity can only be used in this way at the sole discretion of FSI and based on our own research and decision making structure. We can however report to a funder how their donation was used.
